Project Into the Woods: Cookies for a Wildflower & Woodland Themed Baby Shower
The Ask

Rabbits & Deer & Ducklings, Oh My!
The event description on the inquiry form read, “This is for a baby shower themed with woodland animals and wildflowers” & I knew this was going to be a fun one to design!
I know my floral designs like second nature so the chance to combine them with woodland animals was exciting.
Behind the Scenes
This was a fun collaboration because the inspiration was the invitation and my client selected the flowers for the designs from my Design Portfolio.
With the flowers and colors already chosen, my primary design focus was on combining the woodland animals from the invitation with the flowers into cohesive designs.

For the designs to work, I knew it was going to be all about the details.

To know me is to know I love a detail. So I pulled cues from the invitation design for the animals.
Each animal had a basic shape, color, and line work details that brought them to life.
Additionally, I knew I had to establish a relationship between each animal and flower. So the deer are leaping through the flowers, the rabbit is using a daisy as an umbrella, the duck is carrying her buttercup like a tour guide does a flag, and the ducklings are hiding in the delphinium.
After carefully planning and practicing on paper, it was time to paint these designs on cookies!
The one challenge this set presented was the size of the cookie. This client ordered our small “A Little Bit” cookie which meant I had to fit these detailed designs on a 2-inch circle of icing. The tiniest paint brushes I own were definitely the MVP of this set!

The Delivery
After 3 days of baking and painting, I packed up all 24 cookies for the client to pick up the day before the baby shower.
The Results
The cookies were gifted to guests at the baby shower as the sweetest little favor sitting a cup on top of moss (my detailed heart melted!)
